Society of the Old West Community Guidelines

This forum is open to all who have an interest in the history of the Old West, as defined as the period from the Louisiana Purchase and the early westward expansion movement to approximately 1915.

Discussions should be relevant to this period of American history, and may include related topics, such as western art, books, period music, living history, historic towns, etc. While you are welcome to discuss your book, CD, or any other Old West or historically related project you may be involved in, a direct sales pitch, such as a link to purchase a product on a blog post or discussion thread, with the exception of the TRADING POST forum, would be considered a form of spamming. Your post will be subject to removal by a network administrator. Please limit links to your website(s) to your profile page or to the Trading Post discussion forum.

Please be aware that the Trading Post forum(s) are intended for those individual members who may be authors, artists, musicians, performers, dressmakers, craft persons or collectors.  (In other words, these forum(s) are intended for hobbyists, and for those individuals who earn significantly less than 50% of their taxable incomes from the sales of their books, CDs, artwork, etc.)  We ask that businesses, or those individuals who support themselves solely on the sales of their books, CDs, arts & crafts, etc., please refrain from using these forums as a platform to advertise their products or services since that is not keeping with the spirit of these particular forums.  Businesses who ignore this request and proceed use these forums to advertise products or services may have their posts removed if other members, particularly those members for whom these forums were specifically created, should object to their posts.

Businesses are welcome to place paid advertisements on our forum.  If you are a business owner or manager who would like to advertise here please contact the administrators for more information about how to advertise on Ning.
